Announcement of “TOKYO GRAND TEA CEREMONY 2023”
In order to introduce traditional Japanese culture both domestically and overseas, Arts Council Tokyo (Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture) is proudly hosting a grandscale tea ceremony, the Tokyo Grand Tea Ceremony 2023. The event will be held at two separate venues in Tokyo, making it easy to attend — everyone from those with experience in the Japanese tea ceremony to children and foreigners who are new to the culture.
This year marks the 14th occasion of the Tokyo Grand Tea Ceremony. It will take place over a total of 4 days on October 14 (Sat.) and 15 (Sun.) at Hama-rikyu Gardens (Chuo-ku, Tokyo), a wellknown example of a feudal lord’s garden from the Edo Period, and on October 21 (Sat.) and 22 (Sun.) at Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum, an open-air museum that exhibits historical buildings in Tokyo (Koganei-shi, Tokyo).
