This is a course for learning the basics that participants should know in terms of social security and self-care conducive to sustainable professional activities.
In this lecture course we clarify important but often overlooked mechanisms and practical approaches such as social security systems, labor, and health management, which can be put to good use in emergency situations. Some sessions will feature practitioners working on the frontlines of arts and culture acting as interviewers and learning alongside course participants.
We hope participants use what they learn on this course to help develop sustainable activities.

In this lecture we give an overview of social insurance (medical insurance, pension insurance) and labor insurance (industrial accident compensation insurance, employment insurance), systems which differ between freelancers and company employees/public servants (employees/laborers). We also explain what kind of social security coverage is and is not available, based on conceivable cases.

In this lecture we use concrete examples to explain voluntary systems designed for emergencies, including the special coverage system for industrial accident compensation insurance and the small business mutual aid program, as well as other safety nets besides social insurance and labor insurance, such as social welfare and public assistance.

The mind and body are closely connected. Taking care of both the mind and body is an essential aspect of creative activity, although the characteristics and the degree of care needed can vary depending on the field. We introduce the basics of self-care for the mind and body to help sector practitioners continue their creative activities for a long time in the best mental and physical condition possible.
