The performance art piece Memorial Rebirth Senju by contemporary artist Shinji Ohmaki has taken place all over Adachi-ku, and this event marks its tenth outing. Daytime festivities feature appearances by the artist unit Kurukuru Charmy (Kentaro Onishi and Emi Tomizuka) and the Memorial Rebirth Music Group consisting of local volunteers, as well as the open-to-all and specially created “Shabon Odori” festival dance, based on the traditional bon-odori dance, a participatory event that audiences can join in with to get Toneri Park buzzing. In the evening, a collaborative performance by dancer Tsuyoshi Shirai, composer Makoto Nomura, and vocal artist Ami Yamasaki will light up the darkness of the park with a fantastical show of light, wind, and sound. A diverse array of food stalls will also be on offer at this
one-day festival in Adachi-ku, an event sure to create a party atmosphere with the help of local people.
