Aiming for sustainable activities through the acquisition of financial resources

This course provides the basic knowledge and pointers indispensable to acquiring the funds and resources for supporting arts and culture-related activities. In addition to an overview of fundraising, we provide a careful explanation of how to effectively harness crowdfunding for sustainable activities, and the key points that lead to success using crowdfunding.

Ideal for:
-Those who want to learn the fundraising basics and practical methods to support their creative activities
-Those who want to start a new project/activity, or want to ensure their current activities are sustainable

Lecture details

  1. Basic knowledge (Part 1)
    Lecturer: Keita Yamamoto
    This session provides an overview of fundraising; for example, participants learn the significance of raising funds for activities, the difference between public and private sector support, and the characteristics of different fundraising methods including grants and donations. Additionally, we introduce effective ideas and approaches for exploring a variety of resources, not just capital, and their possibilities.
  2. Basic knowledge (Part 2)
    Lecturer: Keita Yamamoto
    In this session participants develop practical knowledge of fundraising. While organizing activity goals, we introduce a framework for connecting with the necessary methods in the goal-organizing process. We also look at practical ideas for involving colleagues and collaborators and think about how to build a foundation of financial resources to keep activities sustainable.
  3. Crowdfunding
    Lecturer: Yukimi Hiroyasu
    In this session we explain the characteristics of crowdfunding. By introducing the special features and practical examples of different crowdfunding platforms, we consider the key points in project creation and the cultivation of potential donors, as well as how to apply these towards sustainable activities.
