Turning “weakness” in admin and PR on the creative frontlines into “confidence”

The process of implementing art projects and presenting works requires a variety of skills related to planning, negotiation, PR, accounting, and other aspects. For those who are thinking of starting to work on the creative frontlines as well as those with experience who want to refresh their knowledge of the basics, this course will enable participants to learn business skills from the basics so that they can work with confidence going forward.

Ideal for:
-Those who want to learn business etiquette and how to create business documents
-Those who want to understand the basic flow, from project start-up to implementation
-Those who want to learn self-branding from the basics to expand work opportunities
-Those who want to learn social media promotion/PR tactics appropriate to the direction and purpose of their activities

Lecture details

  1. Business etiquette and skills
    Lecturer: Tadashi Watanabe
    In this session, participants systematically learn the skills that many working adults need to learn and use, including how to create business documents such as emails and invoices, as well as business etiquette from the other person’s point of view. This session will help participants acquire the confidence to facilitate communication and lead to better creative activities.
  2. Business planning and procedure
    Lecturer: Risei Sato
    Interviewer: Rena Isono, Yasue Konaka
    Regardless of your creative field, for a project to run smoothly it is recommended that you have a holistic understanding of the work involved, from planning to implementation. In this session, art managers working on the creative frontlines help participants understand the basic procedure from project start-up to actualization, as well as approaches and methods for sustaining activities and projects.

  3. Self-branding
    Lecturer: Ryohei Kan
    Self-branding skills are required for widely communicating/promoting your activities, and
    getting the desired creative opportunities. In this session, artists and art project leaders can obtain hints on how to create and disseminate promotional materials by themselves, with a view to new projects and activities.
  4. Introduction to social media promotion/PR
    Lecturer: Mari Hirata
    Social media is widely used as a publicity tool for arts and culture-related activities, but its uses and purposes vary. Knowing the characteristics as well as the pros and cons of each platform will enable you to communicate information in a way that is more in line with your objectives. By introducing examples of PR etc., the aim of this session is to provide participants with the basic mindset and knowledge for social media promotion/PR.
