Children will receive direct instruction over a seven-month period from leading performers in the fields of Noh, Nihon buyo, Sankyoku and Nagauta, and at the end of this period they will give performances on stage. The project aims to give children an appreciation of traditional performing arts long cherished by Japanese, and enable them to carry on the spirit of these arts. This year we will offer a class for high school students and a “graduate class” for those who have taken part in the past. To make participation easier, we will also introduce a new community-based program in which children receive training and give a performance in a short span of time. And the annual “Special Youth Version” for high school students will be held this year as well.
