Project YATO: Examining 500 Years of Common

Based in “satoyama” environments (the undeveloped woodland near populated area) around unused facilities belonging to nursery schools and temples in the Tadao area of Machida City, this preparatory project seeks to design links between people and places to last the next 500 years, taking into account local history and features. How can an endless period of time like 500 years be embodied? Organizers aim to harness the potential of people’s imaginations and create a mechanism by which people will gather organically.
