Tokyo Support Center for the Arts and Culture ARTNOTO serves as a platform to support a wide range of artists and cultural practitioners working in Tokyo, helping them to sustain their activities and pursue new endeavors. It provides comprehensive support, mainly online, and across three core functions: a consultation service that responds to problems and concerns, in cooperation with specialists; an information hub, for the delivery of useful information; and our school, which shares essential knowledge and skills with practitioners.
-Consultation service
Consultants with knowledge and experience in the arts and culture respond to the various problems and concerns faced by artists and cultural practitioners, helping them work toward solutions. Depending on the nature of the inquiry, we may introduce you to external specialists, such as lawyers, if needed. In 2025 we will take our consultation service on the road to a variety of events, sites, and venues, offering face-to-face consultation.
-Information hub
We provide useful information in order to help address a range of problems and concerns that may arise when conducting artistic or cultural activities, ranging from matters connected to accounting and taxation, to funding, activity spaces, and harassment issues. We act as a central point of distribution for information, using multiple platforms such as our own website, YouTube, note, and LINE.
-School
We offer learning programs aimed at improving the working environment for artists and cultural practitioners by building a stronger foundation for their activities and fostering networking. As well as offering learning initiatives on topics such as accounting and taxation, harassment prevention, legal matters, business skills, and capacity building, in 2025 we will also offer new and more in-depth programs that make effective use of our extensive archives. Additionally, we are collaborating with art universities in Tokyo to run new on-site programs for university students.
Tokyo Support Center for the Arts and Culture’s nickname, ARTNOTO.
We dubbed the Support Center “ARTNOTO”, which can be translated as “door to art ” in Japanese, to incorporate our hope that it will be a place where opening this will help resolve various problems related to artistic and cultural activities, and be a place where you can acquire new information and knowledge. Additionally, the name ARTNOTO encompasses the meaning “art capital” , hoping Tokyo to be one of the world finest city of arts and culture.
