Okazaki Art Theatre
Okazaki Art Theatre is a Japanese theater company based in Tokyo and nearby Kanagawa Prefecture. Company leader Yudai Kamisato, who is also a writer, formed the troupe in 2003 in order to perform self-directed pieces. Stage works directed by Kamisato, who was born in Peru and raised in Kawasaki, simultaneously combine a feeling of color and language, and images of the South American sun beating down, with a sense of the inhumanity and neurotic quality of new towns. In recent years, his works have assertively reflected attitudes to politics and society, under the overall theme of coexistence between people incapable of understanding one another.
