Three Short Plays

  • Organization : Theater DORA
  • Section : None
  • Type of Grant Program : Single
  • Art Forms : Theater

Outline

In pitch darkness, visually-impaired guides from DIALOG IN THE DARK (DID) take seeing participants on a journey that richly engages all five senses.

The performance takes place in the small, sensorially-immersive DORA Atelier theater. With DID guides cooperating on stage creation, this show is the first step towards creating theater that not only the visually-impaired but everyone can enjoy.

The program consists of three short pieces: Kunio Kishida’s “Before the greenhouse”, “The Long Goodbye” by Tennessee Williams and Naoto Ozeki’s “Room to wait for me”, all directed by Jun Isomura.

There will also be a briefing about the stage for visually-impaired participants, advance loaning of script copies for the hearing-impaired and a post-performance talk with sign language interpreting.
