Yamada’s witty and unique choreography and precise configuration, as well as her vivid physical presence as a dancer, simultaneously trigger viewers’ intellect and sensitivity. She has performed in 31 cities in Japan and in 23 cities/15 countries overseas, attracting a great deal of attention. In recent years she has been performing not only in theaters, but also in historic sites and outdoors.

While influenced by Western contemporary dance technique and creative methodology, Kitamura has created her own method of communication between bodies that thoroughly avoids touching, and an original methodology of choreography, to raise objections to Western-style bodily communication whereby touching is now taken for granted.
