The association was established to preserve and develop the tradition of Kagurazaka’s history as an entertainment district. The Annual Dance of Kagurazaka serves as a medium to demonstrate the areas rich tradition and intangible cultural asset. The 33rd annual dance is scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2015.
Tokyo Kagurazaka Association
In 1973, Ushigome Sangyokai (sangyo: three areas of entertainment in the district: restaurants, Geisha houses, and meeting places) was reorganized into today’s Tokyo Kagurazaka Association. In 2011, the “Dance of Kagurazaka” was designated as a Shinjuku Ward Local Cultural Treasure.
