Outline

Alberto Giacometti is an artist who left a great footprint on 20th Century art history. Although he is well known by his extremely detailed carved moldings, he also left many painted portraits. One of his models, and close friends, was a Japanese by the name of Isaku Yanaihara, who left a record of all his conversations with Giacometti.
Though this production is based on Yanaihara’s record, another story of a child and a father, (director Noriyuki Kiguchi and his artist father, Keizo Kiguchi, who is a painter older than 70 ) has been added to the story.

Profile

Akumanoshirushi
Akumanoshirushi presents works of the playwright and director Noriyuki Kiguchi. The troupe approaches the existing theatrical and performer from many directions to create its various works.
Most of the troupe are not specialists of the theater and the group’s expression is always an incorporation of not only the script but of other experiences and values combined. In one of its performances, viewers became the performers. In another, a person’s daily life was put on stage, and called a play. The integration of the relationship between actors and audience has become the signature of their group.
