potudo-ru’s Love’s Whirlpool had a successful run in Berlin last year. This time it tours to France. Love’s Whirlpool is a work about human sexuality centered around the hidden side of the Japanese prostitution industry, which won Daisuke Miura the 50th Kunio Kishida Dramatic award. The tour will consist of three stops in France.
Founded in 1996 with Daisuke Miura and the members of the Theater Club at Waseda University. Miura received the 50th Kunio Kishida Dramatic Award in 2005 with Loveʼs Whirlpool, which dealt plainly with human sexual desire. They restaged Passion in 2007, and Face in 2008 at Honda Theatre. Invited by Theater der Welt 2010 at Essen, Germany, the company performed Castle of Dreams overseas for the first time. They performed Castle of Dreams in four other countries, and Loveʼs Whirlpool in Berlin in 2012. The company has won rave reviews from international audiences.
