This is a collaborative stage by Tokyo-based musical group ROVO and British-based international music group SYSTEM 7. It is a mixture of music, media art and performance including computer graphics using Japan’s unique animation techniques. This project was born from music inspired by Osamu Tezuka’s Phoenix, and is named Phoenix Rising. As the name suggests, its themes concern revival and rebirth.
ROVO
Composed of Yuji Katsui (Vln), Seiichi Yamamoto (G), Yasuhiro Yashigaki (Dr/Per), Youichi Okabe (Dr/Per), Jin Harada (B), and Tatsuki Masuko (Syn). They create new musical works with a unique sensibility and skilled artistry. Since 2001, they have been doing experimental art performances combining music with computer graphics, and have been well-received not only in Japan but also in America and Europe.
