Outline

Featuring a program of music (mainly composed in the 1960s and 1970s) performed on traditional Japanese instruments, the aim of this concert is to pass this contemporary performing art on to the next generation.

【NHK Hougaku-GinoushaIkuseikai】
This group was founded in September 2011 by alumni of the NHK Hougaku-GinoushaIkuseikai, a Japanese traditional music academy founded by the public service broadcaster NHK that, between 1955 and 2010, cultivated many performers of Japanese traditional music.
In 2013, the group began holding concerts, mainly featuring music commissioned by NHK for the graduation concerts of NHK Hougaku-GinoushaIkuseikai students.

GendaiHougaku -Kou- 2013–2016 (4 performances)
In 2017, the group began holding concerts featuring contemporary works of Japanese traditional music that members wished to showcase to a wider audience, to preserve those works for future generations.
