Outline

This was a double-bill featuring “PANIC” (based on the short story by Kobo Abe) and “Ballad of Narayama,” the representative work by Japan’s THEATRE MOMENTS, in a co-production by Malaysia’s ONZ PRODUCTION and THEATRE MOMENTS staged at Edomachi-Taito Entertainment Festival. “PANIC” was created over a month or so in Malaysia, and then toured around Asia as a multi-lingual production with a mixed Malaysian and Japanese cast. “Ballad of Narayama” (by Shichiro Fukazawa) was performed by the original Japanese cast. The aim of the production was to attract a cosmopolitan audience with subtitles in Japanese, Chinese and English for both works, generating international exchange in the audience.

Conceived/directed by Daisuke Sagawa
Performers: Clare Nakahara, Lew Rorn, Syafiq Syazim, Masato Aoki and others.
