Outline

A work depicting the universal workings of life on earth such as humans, animals and plants.

The title “MukuMeku Mu” comes from the following:
“Shundo”: An archaic word for “ugomeku” (squirm or maneuver)
“Muku”: “Muku” (peel), “Mekuru” (strip, turn over)
“Meku”: “Having the appearance of”
“Me”: Bud or shoot, a beginning
“Mu”: “Musu” (produce, give birth), connected to “naturally-occurring.” The start of life in the language of ancient Japanese mythology

In order to lead the audience to the theatrical experience of “seeing and imagining what is invisible” (on stage), and “causing a raw, vivid sensation on one’s skin and inside,” this production portrays the pleasure, anger, sadness and joy of people and living things, events in the present and past, etc. under the theme of “what you see in the blank spaces,” not by choreography that relies on performers’ emotions to express elements aside from the physical, but by being structured with a focus on “portraying the outside” using wind, fragrance and such like.
