An array of ukiyoe-themed events allowing visitors to experience Japan’s unique and diverse culture will be held at the new Haneda Innovation City complex. Highlights include a light installation based on Hokusai’s “Red Fuji” woodblock print made from 10,000 wax paper candles, a combined effort with Ota-ku elementary schoolchildren. Visitors can also enjoy the magical scene created by one hundred ukiyoe lanterns made by junior high school students from Ota-ku, along with a whole range of widely-publicized ukiyoe-themed events and activities.
