The 47th outing of this regular concert series focused on Eric Montalbetti, currently Europe’s most popular up-and-coming composer, and included the premiere of a new work written specially for this concert.

The 48th concert featured works by world-famous composer Toru Takemitsu on the 90th anniversary of his birth. As well as Takemitsu’s epic masterpiece “Family Tree,” the evening included the premiere of a new work written as an homage to Takemitsu for this concert by Motoharu Kawashima.

Tokyo Sinfonietta was founded in 1994 with the aim of directly engaging with the creation of currently active composers and introducing contemporary music through excellent performance. Since then, this group has held Subscription concerts in Tokyo and has appeared in various music festivals. Starting with the 1996 France and Germany performances, this group has also appeared at major contemporary music festivals in the world. Through these activities, this group selected works by more than 140 contemporary composers, delegating new work to 16 different composers of different generations, performing world premiere and Japan.
