The project “TOKYO ART & LIVE CITY”showcased Tokyo’s collection of creative quarters, which boast artistic genres of a diversity unparalleled in Japan and the world. The project featured sponsored events with a set theme per season (“Art For All” in spring, “Challenges” for summer, “Era” for fall and “Beauty” for winter), in collaboration with theaters, movie theaters, and halls operated by participating organizations.
For spring “Hibiya Festival” was jointly organized with Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. In summer the Noh play “Hagoromo” was performed in a new style incorporating violin and a soprano. Fall events comprised screenings of the films “Hatamoto Taikutsu Otoko” (“Bored Hatamoto – The Idle Vassal Tribute”), the Kabuki dance film “Sagimusume” (“Heron Maiden”), and 4K movie “Bi/Noh “Hagoromo – Wago no Mai”” with English subtitles and commentary. For winter, music events and other performances were held at the Xmas Art Festa organized by Ginza Galleries.
