What we do

Tokyo Poetry Crossing 〜Small Planet, Tiny Voices〜

  • Organization : Poetry Reading Tokyo
  • Section : Support for Overseas Artistic Creation in Tokyo
  • Type of Grant Program : Single

Outline

At a time of global hardship and troubles including the coronavirus pandemic, the power of poetry is being reexamined. The words of our time are in upper case, such as the major changes in society and the news that relays them. However, through poetry and readings we want to shed light on the small voices of individuals that are irretrievable from the big stories.
This live online poetry performance will take place under the themes “international cultural exchange through poetry reading” and “sharing time for the intersection of various identities.”
Ten poets and artists from Japan and overseas will do poetry readings from their respective locations. Each work will be made available in English/Japanese translation as well as in abridged form, promoting exchange between contributing artists.
Appearances: Kumiko Takahashi, Yumi Fuzuki, Ayamachi Hirakawa, Kimi Ishiwata, Je t’aime Kitamura, FUNI, Vasan Sitthiket, Rory Breaker-Morant, Zohab Zee Khan, Jyb Slamlitt
