YAU consists of facilities upon three elements, “studio” (YAU STUDIO, Yurakucho Bldg. 10F, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), which serves as studio for creative activities and a place for artists to interact, “consultation center” (YAU SOUDAN (Kokusai Bldg. B1F), and “School” (YAU CLASS, Kokusai Bldg. B1F), where people who work or gather in the Otemachi, Marunouchi and Yurakucho areas can deepen their various interests by interacting with artists and experiencing art creation.

The Council for Area Development and Management of Otemachi, Marunouchi and Yurakucho, Otemachi Marunouchi Yurakucho Area Management Association (Ligare) are the main organizers of YAU. In 2019, OMY Council established the committee “Art and Area Management Study Group” to discuss how the creative power of art ｃcould be incorporated into the city from an area management perspective. The committee proposed a new approach to urban development that integrates art into the urban lifestyle and named it “art urbanism”, a term coined by combining “art” and “urbanism”. The committee further formulated the concept to be expanded from the Otemachi, Marunouchi, and Yurakucho to other areas. The Yurakucho Art Urbanism Program “YAU” is a pilot program that will serve as the start of this project.
