  • Type of Grant Program : Single Individual
  • Art Forms : Music

Outline

This project aims to combine the past, present and future with “classical music”, “a bridge between classical and contemporary music = Toru Takemitsu” and “contemporary music = the premiere of a new commissioned work”. Through the three worlds, I tried to show how we can pass down wonderful works in the past and create new art at the same time. The program was Toru Takemitsu’s representative works for viola, “A Bird Came Down the Walk” and “A String Around Autumn” and Shiqi Geng who won the Toru Takemitsu Composition Award in 2019, his World premiere of 2. Sonate Für Solobratsche “Come un Notturno” and commissioned and world premiere of 1. Sonate für Solobratsche “nach Bildern von Marc Chagall”. The piano was performed by Takashi Sato. After the performance, a talk session was held also with Shiqi Geng who was invited from Austria, talked about the works himself.
