Outline

A concert by J-TRAD Ensemble MAHORABA, a group of Hogaku (traditional Japanese music) performers. Under the supervision and guidance of Hidetaro Honjo (Shinji Takada), the concert was an attempt to examine and present the spirit of Japanese music through the performance of contemporary works.

J-TRAD Ensemble MAHOROBA
Established in 2021, J-TRAD Ensemble MAHOROBA is group of Japanese traditional music performers in pursuit of a sound with worldwide resonance in an ensemble combining the original and the creative, produced from the origins of Japanese music with an ethnic perspective. With a repertoire comprising both contemporary and traditional music in line with the group’s search for approaches to Japanese folk music now, the group implements a world of sound to stand up to the times.

Its members are Hidejiro Honjo(Shamisen/Kokyu), Hideeiji Honjo(Shamisen/Kokyu), Kizan Kawamura(Shakuhachi), Maya Kimura(Koto), Nobutaka Yoshizawa(17 string koto), and Kisaburo Katada (Narimono percussion).
