In this collaboration, Ki Ageng Qithmir, who plays a unique mixture of traditional and contemporary Indonesian music, and Yuta Kuroki from Miyazaki, who has roots in Shiiba Kagura and specializes in a variety of physical expression, performed in two Indonesian cities (Magelang and Pati). In addition to presenting their works, they visited at a local traditional performing arts school and traditional festival, where they held workshops and research.
“Rootedness and Beyond” began as an exploration of one’s “roots” in traditions and cultures and is based on the motif of our close connection to our indigenous culture and ancestors.
