Outline

Bushman has expanded the range of venue where it stages its works from small theaters to medium-sized theaters, and embarked on longer works to heighten the intensity of its productions.
The troupe has constructed a unique world for the work with stage design, lighting, and sound revolving around the core concept that everything “begins from the body,” striving for choreography that moves people’s emotions with dynamic and vital movement and natural breathing; and that goes beyond minimalistic, introspective expression.
In today’s performing arts where the emphasis is on entertainment, Bushman has pursued artistic diversity with a unique style that reconsiders the starting point of the body and respects its value, regardless of age or disability.

Profile

AtZOO inc.
From the perspective of human beings as animals, and based on “wildness,” AtZOO is characterized by its deep commitment to physicality and a style in which every single move by dancers is meticulously directed. The majority of company members, including Kurosu himself, leverage their experience working as teachers at special needs schools and as caregivers, pursuing the possibilities of contemporary dance with a unique approach that reconsiders the starting point of the human body. Another major goal is to secure diversity in the performing arts. While staying away from the easy route of incorporating a strong element of entertainment, Ikumi Kurosu is taking on the challenge of creating stage works open to as many people as possible, using methods unique to himself and Bushman.
