Opera for kids “Two Momotaros”

  • Organization : Project for young players
  • Section : None
  • Type of Grant Program : Single

Outline

The opera for kids “Two Momotaros” is based on a new picture book with a slightly different story than normal. Featuring a libretto by Yuichi Saito – an adaptation which loses none of the original book’s fun and element of surprise – and music by Saki Tobayama incorporating both pop and classical influences, the work was designed to be highly entertaining; what’s more, the singing by first-rate opera singers and performances by charismatic actors seemed to capture the hearts of children watching. The venue was awash with the innocent and natural reactions of children, and the laughter of adults enjoying those reactions.

Screenplay: Yuichi Saito Composition: Saki Tobayama
