Outline

Choreographed and directed by Ochanomizu University 2020 graduates.
Two and a half years after a graduation performance that came to nothing due to the pandemic, those involved got back to work on the piece.
Even when participants come from a similar environment, what form of expression is produced with the added perspective of life experience out in the world? This is an omnibus style production of ten works by people with similar backgrounds.

Profile

Rie Kato
Studied classical ballet under Reiko Matsuoka and Rie Matsuoka, and contemporary dance under Kenshi Nohmi. To date she has performed in works by Un Yamada, Midori Kurata, Nobuyoshi Asai and Ema Yuasa. Kato participated in Camping 18 and Camping Asia organized by France’s Centre national de la danse (CN D). She was a member of Young Farmers Forum, Tokyo Festival Farm 2021. In 2023 she launched dance group NTMD/Nice to Meet Dance with university classmates. Focusing on the relationships between people and objects, Kato creates works with a strong presence by engineering situations in which people other than herself handle the choreography. Works in recent years include “I Scream Ice Cream” (2011) and “Clean Up” (2023).
