Profile

【CTN:Creative Theatre Network】
A non-profit organization that aims to contribute to the revitalization of citizens’ cultural activities on a local to national level through activities in the fields of culture, talent development, and theater education at public theaters. CTN was founded in July 2005 with the participation of specialists in a variety of fields: principally playwrights living in Suginami-ku but including consultants on local government cultural policy, public theater operators and producers, theater technicians, and actors. Its president is playwright/director Makino Nozomi. As a Suginami-ku designated manager, CTN has handled the management and operation of ZA-KOENJI for 15 years, organizing a dedicated team of experts from different departments on both the facility and business sides of the theater. In this capacity it has come under the spotlight as a model case for the running of concert halls and theaters by an art NPO, a rare arrangement in Japan.
