Moon Art Night Shimokitazawa

  • Organization : Odakyu Electric Railway Co., Ltd
  • Section : None
  • Type of Grant Program : Single

Outline

This moon-themed festival focused on three areas: free art displays around the neighborhood, NFT technology-based initiatives, and collaborations with the local community including festival-related events and special limited-menu offerings. Art exhibits included an outdoor moon installation by British artist Luke Jerram in the vacant lot of the Shimokita Railroad Street, while two other local venues, the Bonus Track complex – Shimokitazawa’s new symbol – and the Catholic Setagaya Church, featured luminous white rabbit inflatables by Australian artist Amanda Parer. Also on offer was an installation “Lines” by Kengo Kito, displayed on the usually inaccessible rooftop of Higashi-Kitazawa Station.
NFT initiatives include a stamp rally taking participants to landmarks old and new in the Shimokitazawa cityscape, and offering digital artwork under a collaboration with the 3D avatar NFT “Metaani” using a special NFT marketing web app.
Collaboration with the local community allowed Shimokitazawa’s various shopping streets and stores to get involved, offering roughly 50 collaborative programs including one-off menus designed especially for this art event.
