Outline

A small area called Orido-dori in Otsuka, Toshima-ku, Tokyo, holds a summer festival that takes advantage of its characteristics as a town with a theater, and through casual enjoyment of culture, exchange and revitalization of both the region and culture are achieved.
The festival reflected the creativity and originality unique to theater people, and at the same time aimed to provide those involved in theater with new creative stimulation and discoveries through interaction and exchange with the local community and other groups.
1.As an opportunity to see and enjoy culture, the YOROZU Theater Short Story Collection “Small stories of Orido-dori” was a program in which eight theater groups researched the local shopping district and then performed works created on the basis of that research. In addition, six sword fighting groups competed in a celebration of sword fighting.
2. As an opportunity to experience and enjoy culture, the event featured an area for cultural experience where visitors were able to experience for themselves Yosakoi dance, contemporary dance, koto, shamisen, ballet and more put on by local groups, as well as theatrical games, ninja and sword fighting experiences provided by theater and sword fighting groups.
3. In order to turn the entire Orido-dori into a festival space, mini shows by theater and sword fighting groups were held at outdoor venues, and there were also meet-and-greets with theater people in costume at a festival stall hosted by the local shopping district.
