The Asakusa-based art space Gallery ef has hosted “EMBRACE,” a photography exhibition by New York photographer, Paule Saviano. Since 2016, Saviano has been taking portraits of Transgender and Non-binary children, teenagers, and adults throughout America and Europe. Saviano hopes that seeing the exhibition helps as many visitors as possible appreciate how many people there are across countries, cultures, and generations who have a gender identity that differs from traditional ideas on gender.
Gallery éf Asakusa
This old warehouse is located in Asakusa, near Sumida River and built in 1868. It has survived two great fires in this city and remains the embodiment of Edo architecture. In 1997, we opened as a gallery and have many exhibitions and concerts. In 1998, this building was registered as a registered cultural asset in Japan.
