Triangle was invited to perform a work at a festival in Washington DC.
By showing the work “resonance,” previously performed in Japan by Triangle (comprising Suzuka Nakanishi and Naoya Sakata) at an overseas festival, the unit’s aim was the opportunity this presented to exchange new opinions and encounter new values through exposure to people with diverse roots.
Based on these values, Triangle’s aim is to create new works by respecting current and existing trends in Japan while at the same time always and unreservedly asking questions.
Triangle.
Triangle” is a contemporary dance unit consisting of dancer-choreographers Suzuka Nakanishi and Naoya Sakata. The two have been working together since 2018, excelling in creating smooth and practiced progressions and subtle delineations through an accumulation of simple movements. Triangle won the second prize in the creative dance division of the 52nd Saitama National Dance Competition and the Jury Prize at SAI DANCE FESTIVAL 2021. The unit was invited to perform a work at the Duo Dance Festival in Seoul in 2022. It gave a guest performance at 2023 City Dance Festival Washington DC, where it won the Choreography Award.
