Audio and Video Recording Project for New Songs in the US and Releasing an Album as Streepz

  • Organization : Saya Suzuki
  • Section : International project
  • Type of Grant Program : Single Individual
  • Art Forms : Music

Outline

Until now, Suzuki has created music remotely between Japan and America using overdubbing. For this project, performing live with some of American’s best musicians and recording and releasing the results means that as Streepz, she can offer higher quality performances and set her sights as an artist on not only Japan but also overseas.
Suzuki will film videos and record new songs at composer/producer YUKI KANESAKA’s American studio. In addition to Streepz collaborator Emi Nishida, the performers brought together by Suzuki comprise young musicians with experience performing all over the world. These include a female drummer from the Dominican Republic who studied under Wayne Shorter and Esperanza Spalding, a bassist who graduated from a special jazz program at Berklee College of Music, and a guitarist with experience playing all sorts of venues. Through sessions with these musicians, Suzuki aims to create new music in Japanese offering different grooves and rich musical expression.
