Under this project, artists were sent between alternative spaces in different localities – YUNGURA in Tokyo and Studio IMAICHI in Yamaguchi – with the aim of creating and performing stage works based on research in each place.
Interchanging artists this way promoted exchange and interaction between the places. The aim of creating works based on the location from the perspective of visiting artists was to visualize the characteristics and possibilities of each space and locality.

Project YUNGURA
Project YUNGURA was launched in 2022 principally by artists who took part in DIY work on Studio YUNGURA. It is a collective of artists from multiple genres.
Based at Studio YUNGURA, it explores ways to leverage alternative spaces, creates works that consider the relationship between humans with places and environments, and conducts a variety of workshops.
The collective develops its projects while each time discovering new ways to utilize the characteristics of a place or environment as it interfaces with it, and finding new methodologies for collaborative creation.
