Through growing indigo plants and using their pigment for dyeing, the aim of this project is to teach local elementary school students, university students and working adults about the dyeing tradition of Shinjuku’s Ochiai district, as well as to spread the world about Ochiai as a dyeing area to people both inside and outside Shinjuku by exhibiting the resulting fabrics at MUJI in Shinjuku.
