TOKTO FILMeX 2024 was held from Nov 19th – 26th at the Yurakucho Asahi Hall and Human Trust Cinema Yurakucho. 20 films were showcased and introduced to the Japanese audience, mainly focusing on the latest works by Asian filmmakers. The Grand Prize in the TOKYO FILMeX Competition section was awarded to INSIDE THE YELLOW COCOON SHELL by Vietnamese director PHAM Thien An, and IF ONLY I COULD HIBERNATE by Mongolian director Zoljargal PREVDASH won the Special Jury Prize and the Audience Award. In addition, GIFT directed by HAMAGUCHI Ryusuke was screened in the Special Screening section, and ISHIBASHI Eiko performed music live while screening, which was a big topic.

Pre-event “Filmmakers’ Homecoming” was held at Human Trust Cinema Shibuya from Nov 3rd – 13th, and 12 films were screened. Another pre-event “Filmmaker in Focus: Joao Cesar MONTEIRO” was held at Athenee Francais Cultural Center from Nov 17th – 18th, and 3 films were screened.
