Outline

The baritone saxophone is an essential worker in the world of music, and is rarely featured at the forefront of jazz and classical ensembles. The festival will be held in Tokyo. The aim of the festival is to let people all over the world know how interesting Japan is and how unique Tokyo is, which is different from traditional Japanese culture and Cool Japan represented by anime. Four performances by several artist groups, including baritone saxophonists, and a baritone saxophone workshop for students and working musicians, taught by members of Tokyo Chūōhōkai.

Participating artists: Tokyo Chutei Iki, B.L.O. feat. Jun Togawa, Shibusashirazu-Gekijo, Tokidokijido, Taiheiraku Trio, N/Y, The Last Day of Winter, Grégoire Tirtiaux, Chor Serrata, The Workshoppers.

【Tokyo Chutei Iki】
Tokyo Chutei Iki is a pure baritone saxophone band formed in 2000, led by composer Akira Mizutani.
In 2006, with the strong recommendation of the late British music critic Charlie Gillett, the band successfully entered the UK to record for BBC Radio and perform at the EFG London Jazz Festival, and has since expanded to the Netherlands, Canada, Belgium, Spain and other countries. They are now an indispensable and popular figure at the world’s big jazz festivals.
In Japan, they organise the Tokyo International Baritone Saxophone Festival as host band.
