Center line art festival Tokyo holds a range of programs such as art exhibitions, performances, and workshops, providing a place where citizens can experience the diversity of art. With the festival program for this year – the event’s third annual outing-organizers have concentrated their efforts on increasing opportunities for citizens to take the initiative to participate in the creation and dissemination of art by featuring a greater number of programs which people can see and take part in free of charge.

The event is designed as a circulating art festival transcending the administrative boundaries between Nakano and Kunitachi, connecting people to people, people to neighborhoods, and neighborhoods to neighborhoods. Along the Chuo Line, the festival has created micro-tourism and art tourism that goes beyond mere appreciation in the form of a “journey through art.”

Moreover, proactively holding programs at public and commercial facilities in addition to galleries and theaters has created the opportunity for artists of all creeds to show new works, as well as an opportunity for audiences to experience art in an informal and accessible way in a more familiar setting.
