The purpose of this production was to “reaffirm the happiness scattered throughout trivial everyday events.” In it, the troupe captured people’s different “backgrounds,” “thinking,” “ideologies,” perceiving the differences in mutual values when coexisting in marriage, with a partner, with family, friends, and co-workers as the rhythm of daily life. The audience was given a vicarious experience of this “rhythm” through the characters, who repeatedly clash due to their different “rhythms.” Based on the premise that “rhythms’” and “wavelengths” differ in real life, the work brought a new perspective on how to achieve friction-free mutual understanding in life, as well as demonstrating the possibility of new approaches to theater and drama.

avenir’e
The theater group’s name “avenir’e” is an abbreviation of “avenir ensemble” meaning “ensemble of the future.” Multiple directors are involved in each work, and each individual work is created with their respective characteristics in mind. Additionally, the group always includes a dramaturg for every production to act as an “authoritative judge” and create an environment where everyone can discuss the creative process on an equal footing. Looking to the future, the group aims to become a unique Japanese ensemble team that includes a dramaturg.
