nosmosis research 2023

  • Organization : nosmosis Organizing Committee
  • Section : None
  • Type of Grant Program : Single

Outline

This is a research project deriving from XHIASMA Project/Research and led by Ema Yuasa. It emphasizes the process of awareness and insights gained from the interaction of diverse people through physical expression and dialog.
From late summer through winter 2023, nosmosis will hold three workshops focusing on dance and dialogue workshops, and geared towards people who have roots and connections overseas.

In mid-December, the currently Netherlands-based Jija Sohn who was born and raised in Kyoto featured as guest collaborating artist for a creative workshop, in which she attempted to create “scenes” with previous participants.
In “Invisible gradation,” there was an opportunity for the audience to experience for itself the content of the workshop as well as a talk segment. Sohn presented passing points of research through “dialogue” with participants from different standpoints and backgrounds.

Profile

nosmosis Organizing Committee
With dance as a communication tool, nosmosis teams up with people who find it difficult to engage with the arts due to differences in physicality, mentality or standpoint etc. to conduct research, and to create and present installations, performances and other works. Its aim is to deepen mutual understanding and convey opportunities and possibilities for thinking about diverse social coexistence going forward.
