This exhibition features Taipei-based Johan Chang and Tokyo-based Masa Kudo, two video artists who create personal films using experimental methods. They began a video correspondence by exchanging sounds and images in response to each other’s creations amid the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic in summer 2021. For this exhibition, their two-year -long video correspondence is compiled and showcased as a looping projection, “Jouhatsu Letters(32min, digital).” Although the four pieces of video correspondence have been connected as one, each piece presents a standalone world. Additionally, they will project single-8 films that were double-exposed and shared across the sea. The exhibition will also include displays of photographs, animation original drawings, and more.
Masa Kudo
Born in Chitose, Hokkaido. He primarily creates videos using animation techniques that involve drawing or filming one panel at a time.
