  • Art Forms : Visual Art / Media Art

Outline

In this solo exhibition, Yoshimitsu presents a new expressive mechanism for encountering non-human existence and other people through performance and the exhibition of objects and video works that focus on tactile experience of things. In the current crisis situation we find ourselves in including pandemics, war, and natural disasters, we need to take the attitude of thinking about how people engage with others and non-human existences. Yoshimitsu applies a romantic playfulness to puppetry, instrumental musical performance and other elements, in an attempt to give participants a sensory experience akin to a hug, allowing them to connect with all types of existences and beings. Based on the concept of “object theater” in which people and objects interact to create a narrative, the exhibition comprised video works, objects, and performances allowing people to engage with puppets and things.
