Outline

This drama explores two travel stories and deals with the important contemporary issues of “dark tourism” and euthanasia. While closely considering both sides of these issues, which have their pros and cons, the drama was aimed at portraying and giving shape to challenges and problems in modern society from FumenKaiga’s perspective. These include preventing real-life experience of tragedy from being forgotten, the issue of secondary consumption of tragedies through consumers and social media, and the irresponsible triggering of social media firestorms by anonymous people.

Profile

【FumenKaiga】
Under the aim of creating a new form of live experience, FumenKaiga produces and presents works designed to arouse and expand insight through theatrical imagination. Its current focus is on performance structure and development. A major characteristic of FumenKaiga’s plays is their “nested structure,” in which scenes change continuously, step by step and in layers, within episodes. Thematically, the troupe has been very interested in travel and tourism since the pandemic. In addition, it continues to deal with death, something which will inevitably happen to all living things in the future, and which is inseparable from life. Under the aim of creating performance that generates synergy between the work and the performance space, with the work and the space working in harmony, FumenKaiga has created and performed works to align with a variety of spaces and architecture. Fumenkaiga wants to continue offering works that cause the imagination generated by its performances to extend beyond the venue space (to the lives of audience members, for example) and which create a huge surge of excitement when performed.
