Outline

This project consists of a series of lecture performances by international artists. The artists will be commissioned to create performances, which will have world premier in Tokyo, using different expressive forms, such as documents and fictions as well as visual media and narration, addressing their own statements and creative activities in their career as artists, and the relationship with the society they live in. The performances will be accompanied by commons talk to share the dialogues with the audience exploring the relationship between the artistic creations and the society relevant to those creations, which will make the audience experience different from the conventional way of appreciating the performance.

Profile

Arts Commons Tokyo (ACT) is a non-profit organization founded in November 2014. Based on a belief that the arts must always respond to society today and are able to present new public visions and social models for the future, Arts Commons Tokyo aims to contribute to the promotion of arts and culture in Japan and Asia through activities related to contemporary arts.
