Monitor experience workshop - thinking about movies enjoyed with subtitles and audio description

  • Organization : Media Access Support Center
  • Section : None
  • Type of Grant Program : Single
  • Art Forms : Visual Art / Media Art

Outline

Media Access Support Center promotes the expansion of subtitle and audio description production. But since each respective movie and video work is completely different, the group carries out study sessions with monitors for each title, in order to promote a barrier-free solution that accurately conveys the message of a particular work.
Indispensable to this are monitors who are able to express precise opinions after determining the message of the work based on their individual disability level. Visually- and hearing-impaired candidates are recruited to take part in workshops, where they get first-hand experience of monitors designed to bridge the gap between disability and arts and culture. By heightening awareness among the relevant industry parties and conveying the appeal of barrier-free production to film producers, the group hopes to succeed in providing ever more creative barrier-free access to film.
