Koganei Artfull Action! pursues a variety of projects designed to turn the Koganei neighborhood into a place where anyone can enjoy arts and culture, making it easy to live a more fulfilling life.
One of these projects, “Koganei and I: Secret Expression,” has been directed by artist Wataru Asada since fiscal 2015 and seeks to encourage the citizens who take part to notice and cherish discoveries made in the course of their daily lives, and then to develop these discoveries into some kind of expressive form.
Building on the workshop results from last year, this year we will elicit memories from residents of the Koganei area and have local volunteer mediators assist in editing and transforming these memories into various forms to be shown at the Recall Button exhibition from 23 to 26 August.
We hope this activity will lead to the discovery of new things to love about Koganei, and are therefore looking for people who live, work, or study in Koganei and are willing to share a memorable anecdote or episode.
