That memory of living here
Drifted back when you least expected it
But now there’s no way of knowing
Whether it was real or not
Although we’re at the mercy of
These trivial triggers
Somehow they make us happy sometimes
And I just want to tell you about this feeling
“Tell us about your memories of places and things here in Koganei, where you live, that don’t exist anymore but were important to you once.”
Individual residents of Koganei will share their personal memories of things unique to this neighborhood that they encountered in daily life here, while walking through its streets, playing, going to school, doing the shopping, working, and maintaining family ties here.
At this exhibition, having assembled dozens of these memories of Koganei, local volunteer mediators will gradually transform them into “expressions” that will inspire a diverse array of stories.
You can’t reproduce a memory, but perhaps you can reenact it?
This hope – or perhaps it’s a delusion? – is the inspiration for this new civic exhibition.
We’re really looking forward to seeing you.
