Tokyo Caravan in Toyota pre-event

Choreographer/dancer Ryohei Kondo and a diverse array of artists come together on Sunday, March 18, 2018 for encounters with local Toyota artists and residents!

“Tokyo Caravan” is a unique cultural movement devised by playwright/director/actor Hideki Noda which has wowed more than 38,000 spectators and visitors in Rio de Janeiro and all over Japan since it started in 2015 in Komazawa, Tokyo.
The pre-event in Toyota, Aichi Prefecture is finally upon us.

Choreographer/dancer Ryohei Kondo, who was the leading artist of “Tokyo Caravan in Kumamoto” in 2017, will share encounters and conduct workshops with local artists, performers and Toyota City residents. Joining him will be a group of musicians and artists, including Takasada Inada on tenor saxophone, Eri Konishi on the piano/accordion, Shuichiro Sakaguchi on trumpet, vocalist and traditional paper cutting artist Chanky Matsumoto, Leo Nanjo on percussion, Ryotaro “Pom” Uto on bass and Kaya Okada on alto saxophone.

The whole of Japan is being connected by these once-in-a-lifetime encounters with “Tokyo Caravan”. We invite you to experience for yourself this “traveling cultural movement”, which will continue up to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and into the future beyond.
